Hoy hemos desayunado una buena rebanada de odio. Una vez más el fantasma de las balas sobrevuela el territorio de la maltrecha política actual. Lejos de la concordia y la solidaridad, en busca de una sociedad más justa para todos, alimenta el ego de los señores del parlamento que escupen a la cara del otro violencias, no tan lejanas. Violencias que aún marcan la piel y la mirada de nuestros mayores. Hoy, como siempre, la política es indiferencia hacia la vida, circo de los títeres del poder y mucha mala leche contra el pueblo.
Nada sorprendente en este mundo. El odio es longeva costumbre entre los humanos, mas siempre nos pone a la expectativa con el corazón en un puño y el miedo que acecha debajo de la almohada. Asistimos al espectáculo sin que la escena, atroz o infame, nos haga levantarnos de nuestra confortable butaca para tirar las palomitas con rabia y gritar con voz limpia, sin miedo, sin adrenalina ¡basta ya! A los necios de los puños y las pistolas.
La memoria no hay que perderla; es necesario el valor para extirpar todos los venenos de sus entrañas. Tener presentes los crímenes del pasado, como la ponzoña de la serpiente o el arsénico que se transforman en fármaco contra la enfermedad fatal, ese es el trabajo de las mujeres y hombres, que cada día se levantan con el sueño destrozado por la ignorancia y la soberbia uncidas al yugo del trabajo y la obediencia.
Es urgente prestar atención. Hay quienes deberían haber leído más. No son suficientes prólogos, epílogos, reseñas, criticas, solapas o contracubiertas de los libros que caen en nuestras manos, para desbrozar la condición humana. Tampoco nos muestra la raíz del acontecimiento humano la caprichosa oralidad, que hace verdad y nación: lo que me dijo uno, que alguien dijo, que a otro se le ocurrió alguna vez.
Otros tantos, sin embargo, no deberían haber tocado un libro jamás. Para estos la tinta es acicate de sus vilezas que arrojan contra todo lo que no sea su ego y su pocilga. En este habitáculo de miseria son amamantados por el diablo. Sobre el lecho de sus heces, sueñan el odio a los de piel distinta, a las mujeres castigadas por los machos del patriarcado, a los trabajadores mil veces usados que mendigan un trozo de dignidad en los templos de la indigna caridad, a los niños abandonados y explotados en las letrinas de la plutocracia, a los maestros que desvelan las trampas de las doctrinas, a los mayores que ya nos sirvieron y ahora huelen mal y nos entorpecen la juerga y la borrachera de Peter Pan.
Leer es aprender, formarse, instruirse, vivir la dicha y el espanto de otros. Leer no es creer. El creyente, cualquiera que sea su modalidad o tipo, cuando dice sí, entrega su sangre y su cerebro a las bestias de los ismos, entonces ya tan solo es un esclavo que cava su propia tumba. Leer es aventurarse en el fárrago de las palabras, llegar a los lugares que nos acechan en los desiertos del devenir; hundir los pies desnudos en la arena caliente y nueva, disponer las manos y la voluntad para construir el hogar, labrar la tierra, procurar los alimentos, la sanidad, el vigor de las amables escuelas.
Es preciso desmenuzar cada palabra, cada pensamiento, perderse en la tormenta negra de la tinta y en la vorágine que invade los oídos, para encontrarnos en el foro de la vida con nuestras propias palabras y compartirlas con el otro, destruirlas y volver a construir otras. Tan solo llegaremos a ser humanos si vivimos en un eterno entendernos con la empatía como laurel. Acaso, así, las bestias de los ismos, ya desaprendidas, se desvanezcan en el olvido sin que una gota de sangre sea derramada por causa alguna.

Today we had a good slice of hate for breakfast. Once again, the ghost of bullets flies over the territory of our battered political situation. Far from harmony and solidarity, in search of a fairer society for all, it feeds the ego of the lords of parliament who spit violence, not so distant, on the face of the other. Violence that still mark the skin and eyes of our elders. Today, as usual, politics shows indifference towards life, a circus of the puppets of power and a lot of bad blood against the people.
Nothing is surprising in this world. Hatred is a long-standing habit among humans, but it always does put us on the lookout with our hearts in a fist, and fear that lurks under the pillow. We attend the show, and the scene, atrocious or infamous, does not make us get up from our comfortable armchair to throw the popcorn in anger and shout with a clear voice, without fear, without adrenaline, enough is enough! To fools with fists and guns.
The memory must not be lost; it takes courage to remove all the poisons from its entrails, bearing in mind the crimes of the past as the snake venom or arsenic that are transformed into a drug against a fatal disease. This is the work of women and men who wake up every day with their sleep shattered by ignorance and arrogance yoked to the bondage of work and obedience.
It is urgent to pay attention. There are those who should have read more. There are not enough prologues, epilogues, reviews, criticisms, flaps or back covers of the books that fall into our hands to clear the scrub of the human condition. Neither the capricious orality does show us the root of the human event that makes truth and nation: what someone told me, what someone said, what someone else ever thought of.
Many others, however, should have never touched a book. For these, the ink is the spur of their vileness that they now throw against everything that is not their ego and their pigsty. In this habitation of misery, they are suckled by the Devil. On the bed of their feces, they dream of hatred to those with a different skin, to women punished by the males of patriarchy, to the workers a thousand times used, who beg for a piece of dignity in the temples of unworthy charity, to abandoned and exploited children in the latrines of plutocracy, the teachers who reveal the traps of doctrines, the elderly who have already served us and now smell bad and hinder the revelry and drunkenness of Peter Pan.
Reading is learning, training, educating oneself, living the happiness and fear of others. Reading is not believing. The believer, whatever its modality or type, when he says yes, he gives his blood and his brains to the beasts of isms, then he is only a slave digging his own grave. Reading is venturing into the mud of words, reaching the places that lurk in the deserts of becoming, to sink your bare feet into the hot new sand, to have your hands and the will to build the home, till the land, provide food, health, the vigor of friendly schools.
It is necessary to crumble each word, each thought, get lost in the black storm of ink and in the maelstrom invading our ears, find ourselves in the forum of life with our own words and share them with one another, destroy those words and rebuild other words. We will only become real humans if we live in an eternal understanding with empathy as recogition. Perhaps, in this way, the beasts of the isms, already unlearned, might vanish into oblivion without a drop of blood being shed for any cause.
